Doug & Bethany Pearson

Today was a special study because we had guest speakers - Doug & Bethany Pearson. They spoke of the work they are doing for our Lord in India and Nepal. I'm hoping someone else will come in and write more about all they spoke on. Right now I'm overwhelmed. I do like how Doug encouraged us by saying that we can have a 'mission field' right here. We just need to look around and see what the Lord has for us.

(They mentioned William Carey and the work he did as a missionary to India.)

Here is what was written on the 'info' page from Facebook concerning Hope Family Orphanage:

About Hope Family Orphans Nepal

Christian love that is much needed amongst the poor of Nepal
Description
Our Greater Grace Church in Katmandu Nepal has started this new ministry by faith. It is suddenly come upon Pastor Rajan and John Shaw in the Sovereignty of God to care for these abandoned children.

In August, a member of our Greater Grace Katmandu church heard reports of abandoned children in the forests in the district south of the city. This church member’s name is John Shaw. He in from India... , yet lives in Katmandu as a teacher in an international school. John was born in a Christian family, hence the Christian sounding name.
By faith and uncontrollable love, he went in search of these homeless children and with the help of some of our Praja tribe pastors, rescued these children and got government permission to take full responsibility for them.

John quit his job by faith, and with no promise of support, rented a home for them, caring for them each day. John is an excellent teacher, so they will get a quality education. The Hope Family is right behind Pastor Rajan’s home in east Katmandu , so Pastor Rajan’s wife Indu, she cares for the 12 Hope Family children each day also. So far, some of my American friends have given some support for rent, and to buy necessities, but it is still not enough. We are praying for more regular support and good communication between sponsors and the work there.

These 12 children all came with many diseases and worms in their bodies. They had been eating trash and dead carcasses of whatever they could find in the forests. 3 of the children even had to cannibalize a dead body they found to survive. These children are between 5 and 12 years old. Some of them are on regular medicine to rid the worms, and John Shaw is paying for the medicine out of his own decreasing life savings.

I gave him 500 dollars of my own support for some necessities and to set up an official school for them. They all came with rough sad faces, but most now have a sweet disposition. They are obedient now that they are loved. They all want to be pastors and missionaries now that they know Jesus.
