Voice of the Martyrs

Humberto’s friend, Linda Swygard, with Voice of the Martyrs, will be here today, Tuesday, April 30.

This will replace our regular Bible Study time and will be located in CR 93-251, one of the larger conference rooms on Level 2.

She will play a short VOM DVD, which describes the organization and its goals. Then she will speak for some 20-or-so minutes and conclude with prayer time.

VOM’s Mission Statement:
“Serving the persecuted church through practical and spiritual assistance while leading Christians in the free world into fellowship with them.”

About VOM:
The Voice of the Martyrs is a non-profit, inter-denominational Christian organization dedicated to assisting the persecuted church worldwide. VOM was founded in 1967 by Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, who was imprisoned 14 years in Communist Romania for his faith in Christ. His wife, Sabina, was imprisoned for three years. In the 1960s, Richard, Sabina, and their son, Mihai, were ransomed out of Romania and came to the United States. Through their travels, the Wurmbrands spread the message of the atrocities that Christians face in restricted nations, while establishing a network of offices dedicated to assisting the persecuted church. The Voice of the Martyrs continues in this mission around the world today through the following main purposes:
Our ministry is based on Hebrews 13:3:
Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

VOM’s Five Main Purposes:
    1. To encourage and empower Christians to fulfill the Great Commission in areas of the world where they are persecuted for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.
    2. To provide practical relief and spiritual support to the families of Christian martyrs.
    3. To equip persecuted Christians to love and win to Christ those who are opposed to the gospel in their part of the world.
    4. To undertake projects of encouragement, helping believers rebuild their lives and Christian witness in countries where they have formerly suffered oppression.
    5. To promote the fellowship of all believers by informing the world of the faith and courage of persecuted Christians, thereby inspiring believers to a deeper level of commitment to Christ and involvement in His Great Commission.

what does the Lord require of thee?

Micah 6:8

He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

Lesson 13
Sin: Winning the Battle Within Me

Why am I still struggling with these sins?

Memory Verse: 1 John 1:9

Key Thought for the week: Sin is failing to love God and others.
Being controlled by God's Spirit is the key to victory over sin.

2 Thessalonians 1:3 and Star Breather

This is one of the reasons I love Facebook so much. I 'like' pages that encourage and instruct and every single time I open Facebook I am filled with knowledge of Him and love for Him.

Doug & Bethany (CR 93-353)

Tuesday, April 16th, Doug and Bethany Pearson will be in our offices telling us about this last year in India!

Save the date!

Missionaries to India, Doug and Bethany Pearson will be joining us for a second year for a ministry update.  They are a wonderful, very special couple that God is using to reach the lost throughout India and Nepal.   They have literally knocked on every door in the slums of Mumbai, the same area featured in the movie Slum Dog Millionaire, to tell people about Jesus.  Through their outreach, many have come to Christ and are being disciple and trained in the Word of God.  Three churches have started.

Those of you who got to hear them last year will remember the Hope Family Orphans in Nepal and could not help but be touched by their story.  We look forward to hearing more about them and how they are doing.
